If you are like some of us, you may wonder why you would need a manual die cutting machine if you have a Cricut. We wondered the same thing until we had the pleasure of testing the Grand Calibur die cutting machine by Spellbinders Paper Arts.

The Grand Calibur Machine cuts and embosses and can even be used with dies made by other companies. Cut, emboss and stencil all with one die!

What we found:

This machine makes mini albums a snap. If you are a lover of mini albums, you can literally have all of your pages and paper cut out in minutes. Really! With the ingenious idea of Spellbinders Grand Nestabilities Dies, you can choose the shape and size die for your pages and start cutting and be finished in minutes. One super fabulous feature is that you can position the die over a particular part of your paper in order to cut a specific part of the design. We absolutely love this feature.

Cutting photos with precision is a feature we love! You can position the dies over the exact part of the photo you want to cut and then you have a photo cut in a beautiful shape and it is cut with precision exactly where you placed the die. Moreover, you can then take one of your nestabilities dies, which are made in 1/4" size increments, and choose the next size up from the size you cut your photo and cut a mat for your photo. This feature is a way to have professionally looking matted photos on your project literally in minutes. Refer to the photo gallery for this review to see this feature.

For the Father's Day mini album we used multiple nestabilities dies and used the netabilities dies on all different shapes and sizes to cut photos and cut mats for phots. We love the results and the ease of the project thanks to the Grand Calibur machine.
